Arunachal minister wants eunuchs for security

Itanagar: Arunchal Pradesh Home Minister Tako Dabi has suggested raising a regiment of eunuchs for VIP security "because of their integrity". "Even during the Moghul period, Emperor Shah Jahan had relied on eunuchs for palace security for their integrity," said Dabu.

Dabi, who had raised eyebrows earlier by defending drinking by policemen on duty saying it gave them energy, said he had written to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram about his

suggestion in February and received an acknowledgement.

He, however, did not raise the issue when Chidambaram visited the state last month, the minister said.

The minister had once claimed that he went out incognito at night on a two-wheeler to identify criminal dens for alerting the police.
