Assailants attack rowdies, kill one

BANGALORE: A gang of about 5-6 assailants attacked three rowdies and kidnapped one of them before hacking him to death. The incident was reported near Sumanahalli Junction on Magadi Road in Basaveshwaranagar on Sunday afternoon.The deceased has been identified as Kumar alias 302 Kumara, who was an auto driver and a financier. His associates Manju and Seeme Yenne Viji are severely wounded in the attack and they have been hospitalised. All are residents of Vijneshwaranagar in Sunkadakatte and are aged around 30 years. They were close associates of notorious rowdy brothers, Rama and Lakshmana.The police said that Jaga alias Tommy, who was a close friend of the deceased Kumar, along with his associate Thimmenahalli Kariya and others executed the murder. Deputy Commissioner of Police of West division, S N Siddaramappa, said that Kumara and Manja had reportedly contacted a girl, who is known to Tommy, on Saturday and had hurled filthy abuses at her. “Tommy learnt about this and telephoned Kumara in the afternoon and they engaged in a verbal duel. Tommy asked Kumara to come a place. Upon their arrival, they exchanged words for some time before attacking them,” he said.Sources informed that Kumara and Tommy were small time financiers.  They shared financial disputes and that could be the reason for the murder. According to the police, the trio engaged in an heated argument with the assailants near Tirumala Kalyan Mantap near Sumanahalli Junction at around 3.30 pm. In a fit of rage, the assailants attacked the trio with lethal weapons. They kidnapped Kumara,  in an autorickshaw and took him near BEML Layout Park in Basaveshwaranagar, where they hacked and threw him out of  the auto before escaping. He was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. Manju and Viji have been admitted to private hospitals and Manju’s situation is critical.“Tommy, who was close to the deceased, had joined the gang of notorious rowdy Marenahalli Jagga two months back. Jagga’s gang was Kumara’s rival and they might have hatched the plot. All involved in the incident are facing various cases in different police stations, ” the police who have registered a case said.
