A BJP member on Wednesday demanded setting up of a high level committee to find out if the Uttarakhand government was prompt in its response in dealing with last year's flash floods which claimed lives of hundreds of pilgrims.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said pilgrims tried to save their lives by climbing to hill tops yet they did not survive and their skeletons are now being discovered.
He complained that food supplies were not made available to those people and they could not survive.
"This shows the insensitivity of the government," he said adding that a high level committee be formed to assess the responsiveness of the state government.
Former chief minister of Uttarakhand, Pokhriyal also demanded a white paper in regards to the tragic incident.
Flash floods and landslides in Uttarakhand last year had claimed hundreds of lives and caused widespread damage to property.
Raising the issue of law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Chhotelal (BJP) said the molestation cases against the dalit women are on the rise in the state as there is "jungle raj".
A BJP member from Jharkhand, Ravindra Kumar Ray raised the law and order issue saying that extremists are running the state. "Home Ministry should seek a report from the state and President rule should be imposed in the state," he said.
