PETA activists staged a demonstration to raise awareness about cruelty to animals in front of the Bombay Circus...
CHENNAI: Dressed in elephant costumes with chains bound and holding up a sign board which read, ‘Be an Elefriend’, a group of People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) activists quipped the interest of onlookers, as they tried to raise public awareness on why it is important to ban circuses that use animals, in front of the Bombay Circus camp here on Thursday. Chani Singh, PETA campaigner who was part of the event, said, “Animals in circuses are routinely chained, beaten, denied everything that is natural and important to them, all for a lifetime of cheap tricks.”
