BANGALORE: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is known for its snail pace in any work it undertakes. But here is a work that they inaugurated much before they completed it.The Palike, which undertook many miscellaneous work on the Tagore Circle underpass, inaugurated it on April 14, 2012 without completing many works.While the underpass itself is receiving final touches, the footpath has not been completed as yet. To add to this, vehicle users are facing confusion as they are not allowed to take a right turn to join B P Wadia road. Instead they are expected to go around Tagore circle in order to connect to that road. It seems that the underpass was completed in a hurry before Mayor Sharadamma’s term. The inauguration function was held with pomp and glory, witnessed by chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda. It can be recalled that the underpass work took more than three years to get completed.The pedestrians are facing problems as the footpath on both sides are not ready. Nagaraj a motorist said “There are no signboards to indicate that one must not take a right. As of now it is only after you turn that a police official stops you and asks you to come around the circle. It is causing lot of problem to the motorists” he added.When City Express spoke to Kalyan Kumar, the Traffic Police inspector of Basavanagudi, he said “This rule has been implemented from the time the underpass was inaugurated. The traffic coming from BP Wadia road will go on to join Bugle Rock road. In order to avoid accidents this rule has been made.” When he was asked about the signboards, Kalyan blamed it on the BBMP. “The Palike is yet to asphalt the road and once done, we can place the signboards,” he said.
