October 3 was an important date for both 'Thuppakki' and 'Maattrraan' teams, as the films appeared at the Madras High Court and Censor Board respectively.
'Thuppakki' was to appear at the Madras High Court for the final round of hearing involving its title. The 'Thuppakki' Vs 'Kalla Thuppaki' case has been on the wire for months, ever since fans got to see the first look of the Vijay starrer. Since then AR Murugadoss has gone on to finish shooting and getting the film ready for release. But the team is unable to do any promotions with a court case pending. Today's decision will reflect whether the movie will retain its original title. If not, the new title and audio launch dates are expected to be announced by the end of the week.
Earlier this week, 'Maattrraan' was submitted for the approval of the censor board and has since been under review by several jury members. The team is hoping that the film will get a 'U' certification instead of 'U/A' and apparently, a lot of money is riding on the decision of the board. Getting U/A will mean the producers will have to invest around Rs 25 crore in the project.
'Maattrraan' is ready to hit screens on the 12th of October and it is reported that the trailer of 'Thuppakki' will be shown in theatres along with it.
