Eight people were arrested after a racket which offered to impregnate ‘childless’ women in Bihar’s Nawada district in exchange for a “handsome payment” was busted on Friday. Munna Kumar, the mastermind behind the racket, which attempted to dupe people through a lucrative offer, escaped the police.
As per a Times of India report, the ‘All India Pregnant Job Agency’ charged Rs 799 as registration fee, promising a chance to get a Rs 13 lakh in return after successfully impregnating women who have been unable to bear a child.
The accused contacted people on their WhatsApp numbers and sought help in impregnating women who were unable to conceive from their partners, police said. After contacting them, the ‘agency’ would charge the registration fee to those who showed interest in the job. The ‘agency’ also promised them to show pictures of women whom they would want to impregnate.
Following the trap, many people got lured into a bigger cycle where they were asked security deposits between Rs 5,000 and Rs 20,000. The police official also said that the price was increased if the women in the picture had higher beauty standards.
A “prize money” of Rs 13 lakh was assured to the victims after the process of conception was successful. Even if they failed, they would still be given a “consolation prize” of ₹5 lakh, the police added.
Several data sheets, nine mobile phones and two printers were seized by the police.
