BJP needles UPA over fuel price hike

BANGALORE: The recent petrol price hike, in the words of a BJP leader, could be a “conspiracy hatched against Congress president Sonia Gandhi within the UPA government”. State BJP spokerperson and Rajya Sabha MP Ayanur Manjunath addressed the press here on Friday whether the decision was taken to dent the image of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who recently returned to the country, while demanding an immediate rollback of the price hike.He said the hike would have a cascading effect on other economic activities. Pointing out that the price of has been hiked by over 50 per cent, Manjunath added that to reduce the burden on the people the state party unit will appeal to CM D V Sadananda Gowda to reduce sales tax on petroleum products.
