BHUBANESWAR: Unidentified miscreants hurled a crude bomb at the residence of Utkal University Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof PK Sahu late on Monday. No one was injured.At about 11.15 pm, the security guards were taken aback by a loud noise in the courtyard of Sahu’s house, located along the road connecting Sainik School to Kalinga Hospital Square. About to retire for the day, Sahu came out to find out what happened but by then the miscreants had fled.Bhubaneswar DCP Nitinjit Singh rushed to the spot. The two private security guards posted at the house were sitting under a porch and could not notice the anti-socials. The crude bomb, which is used during celebrations and festive occasions such as Diwali, landed at a distance from where the guards were sitting.With the students’ union election only a couple of days away, police suspect this could be an act of mischief-mongers.
