MADIKERI: The complaint lodged against Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah over the alleged siphoning of funds sanctioned for renovating the Doddareshmehadlu tank is politically motivated, claimed BJP MLA M P Appachu Ranjan.Addressing the media here on Saturday, the MLA added that the complaint, filed by Congress ZP member Saritha Poonacha on Friday, was aimed at diverting public attention away from the complaints against her husband over charges of illegal sand mining. “She only aims to defame Bopaiah’s image and derive political mileage, by filing a case merely on the basis of a letter issued by Bopaiah,” he added.The Congress was preparing to move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker during the upcoming Assembly Session beginning on December 5, he said and added that they are of the opinion that such allegations will prove to be advantageous to them.Adding that the Karnataka Housing Construction Corporation Land Army and Nirmathi Kendra need no tender for their works as they come directly under the state government, Appachu Ranjan said: “If anything goes wrong (during execution), it is the responsibility of the working agency and not representatives.”
