Jaipur: Eighteen-year-old Ravi Shankar Godara's name has been proposed for the Guinness Book of World Records for memorising and recalling the log and antilog tables in one hour and 29 minutes.
For the Jaipur boy, who has already entered the Limca Book of Records and the National Book of Honour, earning recognition by creating a record has always been a dream.
"I always wanted to have a record in my name. The question was to do something unique that no other person had done. So I decided to memorise the log and antilog tables," said Godara.
"Earlier I had learnt the periodical table and recited it in just 35 seconds. But the category in which I was to be picked up was later removed by the Limca Book of Records. But I didn't give up," said Godara.
The enthusiastic Godara was game for a fresh start and this time he was determined to make things work in his favour.
"To get better results I also joined memory workshops, which really helped me a lot. And finally I created a record in a new category," said Godara.
Records apart, the teenager now wants to win international championships as well.
"I am now preparing for the prestigious World Memory Championship, which is held every year in London. What is really important is that no Indian has ever won this award. So if I manage to get through, it would be dual happiness for me," he said.
"I have specialised in something which is of routine use. Having a strong memory not only helps in your profession but also helps in routine activities. I would suggest that all educational institutes work on this and the results would certainly be surprising," he added.
