HUBLI: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa stated that he would be participating in the valedictory function of the Jana Chetana Yatra to be held on Novemeber 20 at Delhi. Yeddyurappa was in Hubli on Sunday, to attend his nephew’s wedding. It can be recalled that Yeddyurappa was in jail over his alleged role in de-notification of lands and could not attend L K Advani’s Jana Chetana Yatra against corruption when it came to the state. He stated that party leaders had scheduled a ceremony at Bangalore, however, “I have refused to participate in that programme and would be participating in the valedictory ceremony of the Yatra,” he added.Refuting to statements of the Opposition leaders that there would be mid-term polls to the state Assembly, Yeddyurappa asserted that BJP would complete its five-year-term in office. “There would definitely be elections but it would be general elections,” he stressed. The party had taken the Bellary by-polls as a challenge. All the ministers, MLAs MPs would participate in the campaign and a meeting in this regard is scheduled at Bellary on November 17. He expressed confidence that the party candidate would register victory in the elections. However, Yeddyurappa refused to comment on his participation in the campaign for the by-elections and even refrained to make comments on former minister B Sriramulu contesting as an independent. He stated that he was not an aspirant to either the party chief’s post or the CM’s post. “I had asked the party workers not to hold a rally, but it was common in public life,” said Yeddyurappa. He was given a rousing welcome, as this was his first visit to the city after being released from jail.
