VELLORE: A private luxury bus plying between Chennai and Bangalore caught fire at Ambur bus stand on Friday, but the fire was quickly doused, thanks to the fire tenders that rushed to the spot on time.Police said the bus driver Abdullah was arrested and a case booked against the owner Norullah of Bangalore.The incident occurred when the bus stopped at the Ambur bus stand. All the 14 passengers had a narrow escape as they got down from the bus when the rear engine caught fire.Traffic on the National highway was disrupted for over 15 minutes due to this incident. The cause of fire is yet to be known.Van Plummets into Pit, 11 InjuredIn another incident near Arakkonam, 11 women were travelling in a mini-van were injured when the vehicle nosedived into a pit near Nandivedanthangal village between Arakkonam and Tiruthani. The women had boarded the van at Sholinghur. All the injured and the van driver were rushed to the Arakonam Government Hospital.
