On Monday, buses began plying up to Nedunkandam and Kattapana areas in Kerala. Theni Superintendent of Police Praveenkumar Abinabu expressed confidence on Monday that cargo traffic to Kerala would commence within a day or two as the situation was returning to normalcy in the agitation affected areas.According to reports reaching here, agitators in Kerala had impounded a bus from Tamil Nadu at Karunapuram near Nedunkandam and held the vehicle captive. It was also reported that Muthuchelvam (23), son of Krishnamurthy of Pudupatti near Cumbum, who had gone to his cardamom plantation at Kalthotti in Idukki district by jeep on Monday was attacked by a Kerala mob.Members of the Uthamapalayam Bar Association who had planned to take out a procession to Kerala border were invited for discussion by the district administration and police officers. The lawyers had insisted that if they were to desist from taking out the procession, all traffic to Kerala should be suspended because, they claimed that tension had not reduced in the area.Following their pressure, bus services to Kerala were suspended on Tuesday. However, buses are plying up to the Tamil Nadu border. It is said that the district administration and police have decided to resume bus service and cargo traffic to Kerala from January 2.
