CHENNAI: A number of speakers at the inauguration of the thirty second session of the South Indian History Congress at the Madras University, on Friday, stressed on the importance of including history in the curriculum of all courses. Principal Secretary to the Government (higher education) T S Sridhar said that it was important to make students aware of the great history that we had inherited from our ancestors. Forums like the History Congress should highlight some of the unique areas of South Indian history, including its robust philosophical ideas and the impact of its movements such as the Bhakthi movement on North India.
