New Delhi: As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrives in India on Saturday, bilateral engagements in New Delhi are not the only things on his list. The PM, who is on a seven-day visit to India along with his family, is scheduled to visit Taj Mahal, Golden Temple, Akshardham temple in Gujarat and Jama Masjid in Delhi.
With an estimated 1.4 million Indian-origin people staying in Canada, Trudeau’s visit to monuments and places of cultural importance could help him boost his outreach among Indians in his country.
A visibly excited Trudeau tweeted his picture along with his wife and three children before embarking on the journey.
“Wheels up for India and a busy visit, focused on creating good jobs and strengthening the deep connection between the people of our two countries,” the Canadian PM wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, Navdeep Bains, also posted a picture with his family and tweeted, “All packed up and ready to go! Looking forward to the week ahead in India with @JustinTrudeau and my colleagues, promoting Canada as a great place to do business and deepen the strong ties between our two countries. Wheels up! #cdnpoli (sic).”

Besides Bains, Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, Defence MInister Harjit Singh Sajjan, Science and Sports Minister Kirsty Duncan and Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi are also visiting India.
The Trudeau family is scheduled to visit the Taj Mahal in Agra on Sunday, and will travel to Ahmedabad the next day, where he will visit Sabarmati Ashram. Trudeau will also visit Akshardham temple in Gandhi Nagar and participate at an event at IIM-Ahmedabad.
On Tuesday, he will visit Mumbai where he will hold meetings with top business leaders and meet representatives of Indian Film industry to explore various opportunities in the field of cinema, following which he will fly to Amritsar where he will visit the Golden Temple and will arrive in Delhi the same day.
Trudeau is scheduled to visit Jama Masjid and a cricket ground here on Thursday besides delivering a lecture at a gathering of Canadian and Indian business leaders.
He will hold wide-ranging talks with Prime Minister Modi on Friday.The next day, Trudeau will address a conference of young change-makers before wrapping up his visit.
