HYDERABAD: IAS officer Srilakshmi's plea of illhealth in order to get bail from the special CBI court ran into spirited opposition by the investigative agency on Thursday. Its counsel argued that the officer, accused in the Obulapuram mining scam case, said she has produced dodgy medical documents to show that she is indeed suffering from a cardiac ailment.During the hearing on her bail petition Thursday, the CBI's counsel argued, ``She has produced fabricated medical documents stating that she is suffering from a cardiac ailment. The certificates say she was admitted in a private hospital on Nov. 1, 2011 and discharged on Oct. 5, 2010. How is it that possible?"
Magistrate Naga Maruti Sharma reserved his orders for Friday, and also posted the hearing on her plea for special class prisoner status to that day.The CBI's counteraffidavit against bail for Srilakshmi contained 11 points. It rejected the officer's explanation that she only obeyed orders received from above to give mining leases in Anantapur district to the Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC). The CBI counsel argued that as secretary, industries and commerce it was her duty to inform her minister of the pitfalls of giving the mining leases to OMC. In fact, the counsel said, she manipulated records and processes to favour OMC and helped the company by passing on confidential information to its management..
