The central forces deployed in Jammu and Kashmir have heightened their alert status in anticipation of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22.

In a comprehensive missive, top officials have informed troops about upcoming significant events — the consecration ceremony and Republic Day celebrations — sources told News18.

They are particularly concerned about potential terrorist threats targeting security personnel, religious sites, and civilians in the Union Territory.

The CRPF, one of the prominent forces in the region, has issued specific instructions to its troops, urging them to stay vigilant and adhere to contingency plans. Soldiers are cautioned against isolated movements, emphasising the importance of following the prescribed guidelines. Similar alerts have been raised by other forces stationed in J&K, such as the BSF, to avoid any untoward incident.

A senior CRPF official highlighted the detailed instructions provided to troops regarding the two events scheduled for January 22 and 26. The emphasis on a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) is crucial, with additional briefings given ahead of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya.

Intelligence inputs have indicated a potential threat to law and order, with terrorists aiming to disrupt the situation by targeting security forces, particularly in isolated locations. The heightened state of alert underscores the security measures in place to safeguard against any untoward incidents during these significant occasions.

Pro Khalistani Entities have already threatened to disturb the Ram Mandir ceremony. In a new video released by declared terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, he has given a call to target the Army in Kashmir, calling Delhi the next target on Republic Day.

Senior officers have been tasked to monitor alertness from the ground and keep a check on the preparedness of forces. They have been asked to verify any input and co-ordinate with central intelligence agencies before proceeding for any operation.
