CHENNAI: Around 15,000 trucks coming under the Chennai Goods Transport Association (CGTA) were plying as usual, despite a call for an indefinite lorry strike, as the vehicle owners felt that the protest would not yield any positive outcome. As only the Central government can solve the grievances of the lorry owners, observing the strike in the southern States is unlikely to yield any positive result, Sanjay Nagpal, the Honorary secretary of CGTA said here on Saturday.“Even though we support the cause, we are abstaining from the strike. If the strike has been taken to an all-India level, we would have participated in it,” he said. According to Nagpal, truckers strike had certain amount of impact in Tamil Nadu due to the decrease in the number of vehicles coming in from the neighbouring States. The western belt of the State had a considerable impact, he added.Nagpal was participating at the CGTA  event organised  to felicitate Rajinder Singh Bhasin of Janta Roadways Pvt Ltd for receiving Transport Personality of the Year-2011 award from CEAT India Road Transportation Award 2011 in partnership with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
