Chaos over office space at VV Towers

BANGALORE: Confusion between two departments the Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens and the Treasury Department on occupying office space at the Podium Block of the Visvesvaraya Towers (VV Towers) lead to dumping of furniture outside the office premises on Saturday.According to the officials of the Treasury Department, they were given a small office space belonging to the Small Savings and Lottery Department as the department office was under renovation.After the completion of the renovation work, the Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens started utilising the same space as their office was under renovation. "The renovation work is completed. The Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens office is now fully airconditioned. It look very sophisticated inside. That is why they do not want to keep old almirahs and other furniture. They have dumped them in the room belonging to small savings office," a staff said.Another staff said the Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens requested the small savings office."On their request, we gave it to them till the renovation work of their office gets completed," the staff said.However, the staff of the Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens have a different version of this episode.According to them, the renovation work is yet to be completed. "We kept many of our almirahs containing files outside the office. This was distracting the persons with disability to enter their office as they move in wheelchairs. It is then that we kept our almirahs in the space that belongs to small savings office.," the officials said.In the meantime, the staff of the Directorate of Welfare of Disabled and Senior Citizens denied that they were using small savings office as dumping yard.
