With COP-11(Conference of Parties on Biodiversity) approaching in less than two months, Minnie Mathews, chief secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh along with many other officials on Monday inspected areas in and around Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel Hotel premises where the event is scheduled to be held in the month of October, where 193 countries and around 10,000 delegates are likely to participate.
The chief secretary said that every department should work in coordination with each other in order to make this event a success. She expressed her satisfaction over the pace of progress of works and directed the officials concerned to speed up the works as the scheduled time is fast approaching.
She also informed that each department has its own responsibility while dealing with their subjects such as maintenance of civic related issues, maintenance of security for international and national delegates but that all should at the same time uphold the heritage of the nation on the international platform.
Samuel, special chief secretary, S.P. Singh, principal secretary, R&B, Sam Bob, principal secretary, MA&UD, Neerab Kumar Prasad, commissioner, HMDA, Adhar Sinha, M.D, HMWS&SB,
M.T. Krishna Babu, commissioner, GHMC, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad and senior officials from various government departments were also present.
Samuel, Special Chief Secretary said that the Government of A.P is spending Rs 450 crore for the event and has also provided 15 acres of land at Gachibowli where one museum and
Biodiversity park are coming up to mark the COP-11 event, which will cost another Rs 100 crore.
Later, the team visited the sculpture workshop at the JNTU campus, Masab Tank where special chief secretary praised the Commissioner, GHMC for his efforts for making up sculptures with the help of artists from various parts of the country and lauded Fine Arts Academy of JNTU for their efforts. These sculptures will be displayed at important junctions for attracting public and as part of beautification of the city.
