The High Court on Thursday directed the petitioner who had questioned the foreign trips of legislators to submit the circular stating that the legislators should bear the expenses of trips to religious and tourist places.
The circular was issued by the Secretariat.
Neelkantappa, the petitioner had asked the court to direct the government to collect the tour expenses from legislators. He stated that the Speaker of State Assembly had issued a circular on May 2, 2007 in this regard.
He also alleged that the foreign tour by legislators would cause a loss of Rs 15 crore to the state exchequer.
Hearing the petition, a Divisional Bench comprising Chief Justice V J Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna directed the petitioner to submit the copies of circular to the court.
HC Notice to State Government
The High Court on Thursday, ordered issue of emergent notice to the state government over illegal appointment of chairpersons of consumer redressal forums of Kolar, Kodagu, Bidar and Hassan districts.
Hearing a PIL filed by one H N Narayana Rao, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice V J Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna directed to issue emergent notices to principal secretaries of Food and Civil Supplies Department, Consumer Affairs Department and to the registrar of the Karnataka State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
Water to Pavagada
The High Court on Thursday directed the Water Resource Ministers of both Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh to discuss the pros and cons of providing drinking water to Pavagada taluk in Tumkur under Neelakantapura Srirama Reddy Drinking Water Project.
A Divisional Bench comprising Chief Justice V J Sen and Justice B V Nagarathna directed to file a report within two weeks in this connection.
During the hearing, the government advocate informed the court that discussed about supplying water to Pavagada was not fruitful.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Water Supply Board filed objection.
