The Congress has said that Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu’s decision to reject the impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra is unprecedented, ill-advised, hasty and illegal. “Never in the history has this happened. It is illegal because the chairman has passed an order which is required to be passed after full-fledged inquiry,” Congress spokesperson Kapil Sibal said. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Monday rejected the impeachment motion against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra by seven opposition parties. “The motion presented by the MPs indicates a mere suspicion, conjecture or an assumption in the Prasad Education Trust case. The same does not constitute proof beyond a reasonable doubt required to make out a case of proved misbehavior,” says the order by Naidu.
