Clerk held for bribery

ROURKELA: A head clerk of the Kutra block office in Sundargarh district, Dhrupada Sahasia, was on Monday caught accepting a bribe of  ` 5,000 from a fitter in the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Department. Investigation revealed that the errant clerk had demanded the money to process the application towards unauthorised leave and  regularise arrear pay from April 1 to September 15, 2010. The office of Sambalpur Vigilance SP Manoranjan Panda said that on receipt of complaint from the fitter, Laxmidhar Swain, a trap  was laid  and the errant  clerk nabbed in front of the block office with the bribe money.  A case has been registered.
