HYDERABAD: Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy will make a statement in the Assembly on the controversy kicked up by the ACB's revelation that prohibition and excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana was the recipient of a Rs 10 lakh bribe from a liquor syndicate. Speaking to mediapersons in his chambers in the Assembly on Tuesday, Kiran Kumar Reddy said: "We have nothing to hide. We will give all the details. We will not go back on any issue."
The chief minister's intention of making a statement on the liquor issue came after TDP members stalled proceedings in the Assembly Tuesday. The chief minister also dismissed as baseless the allegation that the Congress brought pressure on the speaker to defer a decision on the disqualification petitions pending against 16 Congress MLAs who are in the Jagan's camp. "The speaker cannot be influenced by any party. He takes an independent decision. He will follow established procedures while dealing with the petitions. Former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee too took two months to act against those who violated the party whip while voting on the civil nuclear bill in Parliament."
