New Delhi: Former coal secretary PC Parakh in a letter dated 2005 exposed the role of mafia in the coal ministry.

Details assessed by CNN-IBN has also revealed the role of then coal minister Shibu Soren. In the letter, the former coal secretary had claimed how Soren had accused him of bypassing political leadership.

In the letter Parakh claimed that Soren was upset as he refused to take oral orders from him.

The CBI has named Parakh for alleged irregularities in the allocation of coal blocks in 2005 to Hindalco, a firm owned by industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Parakh has said that as Coal Minister, Manmohan Singh took the final decision on the allotments.
