New Delhi: With no respite from cold, Delhi saw it's coldest day yet this season, with a new low of 1.9 degrees Celsius. This is the lowest minimum for January in the past five years. In 2008, the minimum had plummeted to 1.9 degree Celsius.
But the Met department says the cold winds are expected to weaken from Monday, bringing up the temperatures in the nation's capital.
However, the cold wave will continue over Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for the next two days. Meanwhile, the winter has broken a 35-year-old record in Poonch with temperatures dropping well into the minus, freezing water in some areas of the district.
The intense cold wave snuffed out 15 more lives in Uttar Pradesh taking the toll to 155 as mercury continued to plunge with Muzaffarnagar recording a low of 0.2 degree Celsius.
