For the fifth successive year, ‘Varnotsav - 2012’ an inter-school drawing and art competition, was held at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School in Chetpet recently. Around 40 schools from the city participated in this colourful event.
Various competitions such as drawing, glass painting, pot painting, vegetable carving and finding wealth out of waste were conducted. Thecompetitions were based on themes like rural development against population explosion, contribution of common man to improve civic bodies, urban planning for population explosion, ethnic art of dance, Indian sculptures, importance of forests and so on. Students from Class VI to Class IX participated in the event.
The one-day colourful event concluded with a valedictory function. Animation specialist Kannan Kesavan of GENPX, was the chief guest and Parthiban Prasad, Assistant Head Master, MCC Higher Secondary School, presided over the function.
