Coming soon: Rail fare hike

KOLAR:  Union Minister of State for Railways KH Muniyappa has hinted at the possibility of a hike in passenger rail fares. Speaking to Express here on Saturday the minister said that the government is mulling over the fare hike in order to provide better facilities to commuters.“The pros and cons of the hike will be debated upon and a decision will be taken soon,” he said while pointing out that passenger fares were not increased for a long time.Though he did not comment on the percentage of the hike, he said that it will not be a burden to public.
