Congress leader Charandas Mahant files nomination from Korba

Union Minster and Chhattisgarh Congress leader Charandas Mahant on Friday filed his nomination from Korba Lok Sabha seat.

A large number of his supporters were also present.

BJP has fielded Banshilal Mahto from this seat, where voting would be held on April 24.

Six other Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh which will see polling in the third phase on April 24 are Surguja, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Bilaspur, Durg and Raipur.

Last date for filing nomination for this phase is April 5. Nomination can be withdrawn till April 9.

The Naxal-hit Bastar (ST) constituency will alone witness polling on April 10, while three other Naxal-affected constituencies -- Mahasamund (Gen), Kanker (ST) and Rajnandgaon (Gen) - will go to polls on April 17.
