KOCHI: The 24th convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be organised on Monday at 2.15 pm. The main convocation function will be held at the IGNOU Headquarters in New Delhi while at the 44 regional centres including Kochi, convocation would be held through teleconferencing.The IGNOU regional convocation will be organised at the regional centre at Kaloor in Kochi. Prof Madhusoodana Kurup, Vice Chancellor, Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies will be the guest of honour. As many as 1148 students have been declared eligible for receiving degrees and diplomas at the Cochin regional centre, out of which 426 students will collect their degrees and diplomas in person at the convocation ceremony. Three students from the Kochi regional centre will be awarded gold medals at the function.D Purandeswari, Minister of State for Human Resources Development will be the chief guest for the main function at the university headquarters. She will deliver the convocation address. Minister of State for Human Resources Development and External Affairs E Ahamed will also be the chief guest and will deliver a special convocation address and felicitation address at the main function in New Delhi. Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama will be given D Litt at the convocation.
