CHENNAI: City police on Friday arrested seven accomplices of notorious gangster Arcot Suresh. Police said they acted on a tip-off and special teams caught the men from a hideout at MKB Nagar and seized deadly weapons. Of the seven held, Kubendran, Mahendran and Ezhilarasan were allegedly part of a 21-member gang involved in the murder of rowdy Chinna alias Chennakesavalu and his advocate Bhagat Singh near Poonamallee court complex in 2010. Three out of the seven – Ramesh, Vaali and Kutty – were allegedly involved in the murder of Muralikrishnan and theft of his two-wheeler in 2008. Cops said both murder cases were under trial. Held for Sending Terror SMS to Police OfficerSleuths of the Cyber Crime cell arrested Balamurugan (38) on Saturday after he reportedly sent a threatening SMS to a police officer’s mobile phone that a bomb would go off at the Secretariat on February 24. The officer had allegedly received a message that read ‘Coming 24th BOMB BLAST IN Chennai scratriate.IF you prevent? Challdnge1?’ and requested the city police commissioner to identify the accused and take action. The cyber crime team found that the accused had used a SIM card with a false address registered in Madurai district.
