Corporators protest against poor drinking water

HYDERABAD: Several GHMC corporators belonging to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday staged a dharna at the chambers of M Jagadeeshwar, managing director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board over poor drinking water quality.TDP corporators, led by floor leader Singireddy Srinivas Reddy, complained the Water Board authorities were providing contaminated and dirty water in various parts of the city and demanded them to initiate remedial measures to provide pollution free water for drinking. Despite bringing the matter to the notice of the authorities many times, no action was taken by them, Singireddy said.Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is also the chairman of the Water Board but it’s in doldrums, he alleged. He asked the managing director to sanction the proposal represented by various authorities which was pending at the level of chief general manager and general manager immediately, and warned that if they did not, they would intensify the agitation.
