New Delhi: A 24-year-old man and his wife were arrested for allegedly duping a person of his money on the promise of giving him US dollars at lower exchange rates, the Delhi Police said on Wednesday. The accused were identified as Shahbaz and his 22-year-old wife, residents of Loni in Gaziabad, they said.
On August 4, a case was registered at Laxmi Nagar police station. The complainant had alleged that he was duped of Rs 4 lakh by some unknown persons, including a woman, on the pretext of exchanging dollars for rupees, police said. The accused were identified and a raid was conducted later. They were arrested from Pusta Road, Sonia Vihar while they were on their way back to Chandigarh to meet their associates, a senior police officer said.
They have also disclosed their involvements in other cases committed by them in Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai. One bike has been recovered which was purchased from the money they had made through cheating, police added.
