KANNUR: Six more CPM workers, including the Ariyil local committee secretary U V Venu, were taken into custody on Friday by the police for interrogation in connection with the murder of Muslim League worker Abdul Shukkoor at Pattuvam.Venu, an employee of the Ezhom Service Co-operative Bank, was held by the Kannapuram police for questioning as he was going to the bank, according to police sources.The other CPM workers taken into custody were: Shaji, Prakasan and Latheesh of Vellikkeel, and Ganesan and M V Purushothaman of Keezhara.The police had earlier arrested 11 CPM workers in connection with the murder of Shukkoor.It was on February 20 that Abdul Shukkoor was stabbed to death at Keezhara by an alleged group of CPM workers.The attack on a car in which CPM district secretary P Jayarajan and other district leaders were travelling at Pattuvam was said to be the provocation for the murder of Shukkoor.The Muslim League leaders had made a representation to Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan seeking CBI investigation into the murder.
