CHENNAI: A city magistrate on Monday granted custody of Sasikala’s relative Ravanan to the Central Crime Branch till February 8, even as a Coimbatore court denied bail to him.A special CCB team recently brought Ravanan from the Coimbatore to Chennai in connection with a Rs 1 crore cheating case registered against him. He was produced before Alandur Judicial Magistrate M Balasubramaniam, who remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days. Ravanan was lodged in Central Prison, Puzhal. The CCB filed a petition seeking custody of Ravanan for five days for investigation, following a complaint made by Tiruppur-based realtor Krishnamoorthy. Ravanan was detained on January 27 after a Ravi Kumar, a Sirumugai-based building contracted alleged that Ravanan had extorted  `10 lakh from him after abducting him.In Coimbatore, when bail petition filed by Ravanan’s counsel came up for hearing before Principal District Judge N Authinathan on Monday, police opposed the plea. They contended that police have received several complaints against Ravanan and he might try to threaten the witnesses.Meanwhile, another petition filed by Ravanan’s counsel at the Mettupalayam Judicial Magistrate Court seeking Class A facility in prison was postponed to Tuesday for hearing.
