Armed motor-cycle borne men looted Rupees three lakh from a trader on Tuesday in a locality on Purnia-Rupauli police road in Purnia district.

Six motorcycles-borne criminals intercepted a trader Naresh Jaiswal's two-wheeler near Baheriyasthan locality and snatched a bag containing rupees three lakh from him at gun point, said the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjit Kumar Prabhat.

The criminals were reportedly trailing Jaiswal from Gulab Bagh market where he had gone yesterday to sell maize, he said. The trader had stayed in a hotel near the market and left for home this morning on his motorcycle, he said.

A case have been lodged in this connection and raids were being carried out to nab the culprits, the DSP said.
