Music maestro AR Rahman won the Best Original Song award at the 16th Critics' Choice Movie awards.
The 45-year-old music mogul won the award for the song "If I Rise" for Danny Boyle's film "127 Hours", a collaboration between Rahman and pop star Dido.
The Critics' Choice Movie Awards are bestowed annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honour the finest in cinematic achievement.
Sabarimala accident
In a major tragedy in Kerala's Idukki district over 100 pilgrims died and 50 others injured, seven of them seriously, in a stampede that occurred at Uppupara near Vandiperiyar on Friday evening.
The accident occurred near at 8.30 PM on Friday evening. Sabarimala spokesperson Rahul Easwar said that 109 pilgrims were dead and 12, some of them children, were still missing. He also said that Kerala Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan has called for a meeting to take stock of the situation.

The film's harebrained plot involves Sunny Deol as Paramveer, an NRI in Vancouver, arriving in Benares to reunite with his father and brother from whom he has been estranged for thirty years. His search leads him to lovable con-artist Dharam (played by the actor's own father Dharmendra), and his accomplice-son Gajodhar (played by Bobby Deol). Before you know it Paramveer has volunteered to make a trip to Punjab to help his brother win back his sweetheart from her hotheaded brothers who're holding her captive.
Starbucks - Tata Coffee
Starbucks Corp, the world's largest coffee chain, has signed a pact with India's Tata Coffee Ltd to explore the possibility of opening retail stores in India, the two companies said in a statement.
The agreement, which also allows Starbucks to source beans from Tata's plant in southern India, will be Starbucks' first step to entering Asia's third-largest economy, Starbucks Chief Executive Howard Schultz said in the statement.
The two companies will also consider jointly investing in additional facilities for exports to other markets, they said.
