Some people have been creating problems in implementing the Dandavati project in Sorab but the government would continue with the project after convincing the farmers in the region, said Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He said this after offering Bagina to the Anjanapur dam and laying the foundation stone for the development of a park below the dam on the lines of KRS in Mysore, at a cost of `10 crore near Shikaripur, on Monday.
Bommai said that the government had initiated the implementation of the Dandavati project, which was the brainchild of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.
He said that more than 4 lakh hectares has come under irrigation and 4.
5 lakh kilometre feeders have been constructed due to which more than 6.
5 lakh farmers have benefited.
Steps would be taken to modernise all the canals in the state to ensure water to tail-end farmers, he said and added that the government had already completed 19 projects and 15 new projects have been started.
The Cabinet has given approval to the Tunga lift irrigation project for which tenders would be called next month, he said.
He said that both Anjanapur and Ambligola dams are being modernised at a cost of `38 crore and another park would be developed in Ambligola dam in Shikaripur taluk at a cost of `5 crore to boost tourism.
Yeddyurappa presided over the programme.
