Deer saved from strays, released

VELLORE: The villagers of Madhanancheri near Vaniyambadi rescued a spotted deer, which was chased away by stray dogs when it entered the village in search of water on Sunday night. They handed it over to forest officials attached to the Tirupattur Forest Range office on Monday morning. The three-year-old female deer, which was pregnant, entered Madhanancheri village from the Madhanancheri Reserve Forest area. The animal was chased by a group of stray dogs in the village. However, it escaped by entering the house of Dhanasekar.Dhanasekar and his neighbours locked the spotted deer in a room on Sunday night and handed it over to the forest officials on Monday morning. The officials, in turn, released the deer in the forest. They said that the animal was healthy.
