New Delhi: Taipei 101 is currently world's tallest building, closely followed by Petronas and Sears Towers.
But what about India's tallest building? Well, the building is located in Mumbai, the SD Towers, also known as Mumbai's twin towers, which is 252-metre tall. Kolkata's South City stands second at 110 metres.
And now, even Delhi is not far behind. From Qutab Minar to Vikas Minar and Hansalaya Building, the capital city has seen one after another tallest structure being dwarfed by new constructions.
Delhi is soon going to witness a new landmark in terms of tallest constructions when the Civic Centre of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi comes up early next year.
The construction for this 91-metre-tall structure started in 2005 and officials say the building will be fully functional by early next year.
"We always wanted to have a landmark and this is the landmark," Delhi Mayor Aarti Mehra says. "It's the tallest building in the city, it's eco-friendly and it's energy-efficient. We help so many people, we are entitled to have such a building."
Spread over an area of 11.4 acres, the Civic Centre will house the new headquarters of the MCD. Once constructed, it will tower above the rest at 101 metres in height.
