CHENNAI: “The development of nanotechnology applications in healthcare needs to be utilised to develop nanorobots for cancer cure and nanodrug delivery systems for HIV”, said Dr APJ Abdul Kalam while delivering the 25th convocation address at SASTRA University on Saturday.Dr Kalam complimented SASTRA University for its research activities in frontier areas of nanotechnology and its applications in healthcare and sensors. He interacted with researchers in the SASTRA Hub for Research & Innovation and suggested that with the nano-technology expertise at SASTRA, it should develop nano-robots and nano-drug delivery system to address the killer diseases - cancer & HIV. Stressing on the need for interdisciplinary research, Dr Kalam highlighted the combined synergies from the Nano-Bio-Info revolution and the need for intelligent bio-science using nanorobots and nanodrug delivery systems. He called upon the students to innovate and change for the betterment and develop the spirit of hard work and endurance to break the barriers of impossibilities.
