CHENNAI: The DGCA’s ambitious e-governance project has been progressing well and it is on the look out for an international service provider to act as the tender, said Director General of Civil Aviation EK Bharat Bhushan.Elaborating on the need for the massive `200 crore project, Bhushan said, “We have hundreds of approvals that we handle and all the departments are disconnected. We have always needed a system to integrate a process so that anyone who needs to achieve something can do so without confusion.”For now, the project has been designed and is awaiting some provider to be picked. “Once it is active, everything from getting a licence to accreditation for a pilot can be done online without too much trouble,” he said. He, however, added that it would take time for the it to be fully operational as there was a lot of testing and training to be done, This would not affect the job prospects of the 550-odd personnel whom the DGCA is currently in the process of hiring. “We need manpower,” stressed Bhushan.
