Dilip Kumar's hit comes back in colour
Following trend of Mughal-e-Azam, B R Chopra’s Naya Daur is set to come back in its coloured version.

Mumbai: Age old classic making a come back in the present day cinema is perhaps the latest Bollywood mantra to rake in moolah. The formula is to bring back a forgotten black-and-white flick in its brand new coloured version.

Following trend of Mughal-e-Azam, B R Chopra’s signature film of the Nehruvian era Naya Daur is all set to come-back in its coloured version with high-tech Dolby digital surround sound.

The film was originally made in 1957 and had the then young and restless superstar Dilip Kumar, and veteran actress Vyjayanthimala as the lead pair.

The company jazzing up the film is American firm West Wings. Though the exact date has not been given for the film’s re-release, it is likely to hit the screens in the next few weeks.

According to sources, the project got delayed by more than a year due to certain technological problems.

The movie will be released in its full version complete with its 18 reels running into three hours. The process has been long with every frame of the movie being colourised using the latest 3K technology, according to a source.

A colour version of Mughal-e-Azam was released two-years ago. And it is being said the colour Naya Daur will be far superior to Mughal-e-Azam.

The film full of the 1950s socialistic mindset about the clash between the rich and the poor is known for its trademark climax where a horse-cart races against a bus.

The film is an intense love story gone wrong. Yesteryear’s ace actress Madhubala was supposed to do the film but her father Ataullah Khan’s dislike for Kumar resulted in her backing out from the project. Here’s looking forward to this classic, yet again.
