Drivers death: Five animal activists held

BANGALORE: The Peenya police arrested five activists of Prani Daya Sangha, Koramangala branch, in connection with the murder case of the canter driver.The accused have been identified as Prashanth (29), Nagaraj (32), Venkatesh (30), Arun (26) and Ganesh (30). The police are on the look out for other three accused who are absconding.It may be recalled that the accused had waylaid a canter that was transporting cattle on elevated expressway on Tumkur Road on Monday and had robbed Krishnappa (40), the canter driver before pushing him to death from the flyover. They had also allegedly assaulted Babu John, the cleaner of the vehicle. The police said that accused had confessed to the crime during interrogation and they were remanded to judicial custody after producing them before a magistrate. The police seized Rs 35,000 and the vehicle used in the crime.
