The man is absconding after the incident and his son is now out of danger.
A man allegedly shot at his six-year-old son in an inebriated state after a fight with his wife in Pannapur village in Mathura, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the Raya police station area on May 11.
"It is true that Ramesh, in drunken state, shot at his six-year-old son Jayant on a cheek after an altercation with his wife," Deputy SP Mahaban Rajendra Prasad Yadav said.
"Though the pellet has crossed both the cheeks of the child, yet he is out of danger," he said. Ramesh is absconding, he added.
