BANGALORE: In a speech laced with philosophy, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said he was not aware how long he will be in the post but promised to live up to public expectations.“I am not bothered how long I will be the chief minister but as long as I am one, I will not do anything that would make the people unhappy,” Gowda said during the felicitation offered to him by employees of the Legislative Council secretariat here on Thursday. However, leaders from other parties as well as Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy who spoke on the occasion, wished that Gowda continue to remain as chief minister for long. The CM said that he too was facing challenges but he did not chose to reveal it. He, however, hastened to add that he is making every challenge an opportunity. “I did not aspire to become the chief minister nor did I lobby for it... It (power) came to me on its own.” In what seemed a comment on his predecessor’s style of functioning, Gowda said he will shun hate politics and not want make tall claims of turning the state into a paradise. “My only concern is to make the day-to-day lives of common man better,” the chief minister said.
