KOCHI: The protest march taken out by the Democratic Youth Federation of  India (DYFI) and All-India Youth Federation (AIYF) to the Kanayannur taluk  office turned violent on Thursday with the police resorting to water cannons to disperse the crowd.The march was taken out from the Maharaja’s College to the taluk office     against the move to raise the pension age from 55 to 56 years. As many as 34 people were arrested and later released on bail. A case has been filed  against them for blocking road and obstruction. Meanwhile, the water pumps malfunctioned and hit the media persons  and police officers.City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar has ordered an investigation in this regard.Special Branch Assistant Commissioner Tommy Sebastian will investigate the  entire incident. AR camp assistant commandant Pushpa Kumar will investigate   whether there was any technical snag in operating the machine. Whether there is a lack of training to handle the equipment is also under probe.
