Similarly, only the candidate and four persons would be allowed entry at the time of filing of papers.Parties Gearing Up Meanwhile, AIADMK candidate Suthukeni Baskaran met party leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Saturday and sought her blessings. Baskaran has already kick-started his campaign and has met the party’s local level functionaries in the constituency. Earlier, Jayalalithaa had announced that the election panel would comprise party MP S Semmalai, ministers Agri S S Krishnamurthy, C Ve Shanmugham and the party’s Cuddalore east district secretary M C Sampath. The AIADMK had contested the April 13 Assembly polls here in alliance with the All India N R Congress. However, the alliance split after Jayalaithaa charged AINRC leader Rangasamy with back-stabbing after his poll victory. On the other hand, the Congress has initiated the process for finding a candidate with PCC president A V Subramanian and former CM V Vaithilingam holding confabulations with AICC general secretary and Puducherry in-charge Ghulam Aabi Azad in New Delhi. It is likely that the party would bank on Arumugham, who had unsuccessfully contested against Rangasamy in Indira Nagar during the Assembly polls, as its candidate. The AINRC is yet to take a decision on its candidate. When journalists asked Rangasamy about this, his only reply was that the name would be announced ‘soon’.
