On completing the 10th year of successful technological training in professional engineering, the Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Angamaly, has planned an elaborate function to mark the closing ceremony of the year-long celebrations that started on October 1, 2011, by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
Union Minister for Human Resources Development Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the ceremony to be held on October 9.
He will open the Science Congress, in which luminaries from science and technology have agreed to attend, and will lay the foundation stone for a Science and Technology Park and Research Centre.
The foundation stone for the Decennial Building will be laid by Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb. Joint Parliamentary Committee chairman P C Chacko MP will inaugurate the new block of the women’s hostel.
As a decennial commemoration, a training centre for physically-challenged children have been planned, and the foundation stone for it will be laid by K P Dhanapalan MP.
Jose Thettayil MLA will launch the decennial home project for the homeless.
While FISAT governing body chairman P V Mathew will preside over the function, V N Rajasekharan Pillai, executive vice-president, KSCSTE, and Principal Secretary, Science and Technology Department, will deliver the keynote address.
FISAT governing body vice-chairman Anthony Johnson, Mookkannoor grama panchayat president Biju Palatty, Jose Madasserry and Jiby Varghese will speak. Renowned scientists M P Parameswaran, L Kamaleswara Rao and J Nagaraju will lead the Science Congress to be held in the afternoon.
